DESCRIPTION

Antique 19th Century rare Imperial Russian Solid Silver matched 4 piece tea and coffee set, comprising of teapot, coffee pot, covered sugar bowl and cream jug, although matched and by different makers the set features the same plain design, typical of the Finnish silversmiths operating in St Petersburg, extremely heavy gauge, each hinged cover terminating with a cast finial.

Each part is Hallmarked Russian silver (84 for 875 standard), St Petersburg, the teapot year 1876, Maker's mark DH for Daniel Edward Hakkinen, the coffee pot and cream jug year 1872, Maker's mark J.H for Johann Heinoin, the sugar bowl year 1879, Maker's mark J.O for Johan Ferdinand Olsonius, important silversmith manufacturing for the firm Grachev Brothers. The three makers are renowned Finnish silversmiths operating in St Petersburg in the second half of the 19th Century.
