19th Century Chinese Export Silver three piece tea set, comprising of a teapot, sugar bowl, milk jug, each pear shaped body is beautifully chased with bamboo leaves on a matted surface, each piece rests on a decorative domed foot and is applied with an intricately modeled bamboo handles and finial. Each piece with a shield cartooche, engraved with a family crest. Hallmarked Chinese Export silver, bearing the Maker's mark in Chinese for Hoaching (Wo Hing).

DESCRIPTION

Antique mid-19th Century Chinese Export Solid Silver three piece tea set, comprising of a teapot, sugar bowl, milk jug, each pear shaped body is beautifully chased with bamboo leaves on a matted surface, each piece rests on a decorative domed foot and is applied with an intricately modeled bamboo handles and finial, simply outstanding quality. Each piece with a shield cartooche, engraved with a family crest.

Each piece is Hallmarked Chinese Export silver (acid tested shows a 900+ standard), bearing the Maker's mark in Chinese for Hoaching (Wo Hing), active in Canton 1825-1880. The silversmith is considered one of best Chinese Export names (please see A. Von Ferscht, Chinese Export Silver 1785-1940, 4th edition 2015).
