A RARE GOYARD WARDROBE TRUNK IN CHEVRON CANVAS, FRANCE c.1900
A huge Goyard wardrobe trunk in fabulous condition, completely original and with great character, opening (with a flip top cover and a hinged door) to reveal a bank of drawers to the right hand side. Dating to the early part of the 20th century (circa 1900/1910) this trunk was finished with the famous chevron canvas and is as vibrant as the day it left the shop, a very rare occurrence given the number made and the wear they would have to endure. This type and size of trunk with drawers to one side only were made in a very small number; quite possibly a custom order. A lovely touch is the incorporation of a secret drawer/tray to the bottom of the trunk. Pulling out the bottom drawer completely reveals a fitted lift out tray, factory made, perfect for the user to hide their valuables away during their transatlantic journeys. The trunks retains all its original charm, all the pull out handles marked “Goyard“ and when closed it oozes charm and sophistication. It is a wonderful and rare addition to any trunk collector or as a practical item of decoration in any bedroom or dressing room.

Over recent years the brand has been relaunched and has taken the world of fashion by storm. The original E. Goyard firm was a trunk maker which rivalled Louis Vuitton and the trunks it made at the time ooze the same quality and finesse as its (now) more famous competitor. This is a chance to own one of the best trunks available on the market both in terms of rarity and condition.
CONDITION
Good overall condition, wear and tear consistent with age. Lacking key. Some of the wood planks on bottom side may be later replacements, hard to tell. Slight musty smell when opening the drawers but not too bad. Please refer to photographs for condition.
