ANTIQUE 18thC GERMAN 18K GOLD-MOUNTED HARDSTONE SNUFF BOX & MINIATURE c.1780
18th Century German 18K gold-mounted hardstone snuff box, of cartooch shape, the lid and base mounted with a dark polished agate. Lid decorated with a reeded boarder and elegantly shaped thumb-piece, inside mounted with a finely painted miniature of a lady in contemporary dress, surrounded by a leaf shaped pierced boarder.
The box is apparently unmarked, but acid tested 750+ gold purity.
