18th Century German 18k gold snuff box, of navette form, the lid set with an oval enamelled plaque depicting a classical scene under glass, the ground enamelled in translucent grey /blue over engine-turning, surrounded by leaf boarders.
Hallmarked French prestige marks (750), possibly by Souchay and Fernau.

Antique late-18th Century German 18k gold snuff box, of navette form, the lid set with an oval enamelled plaque depicting a classical scene under glass, the ground enamelled in translucent grey /blue over engine-turning, surrounded by leaf boarders. Hallmarked French prestige marks on lid and base including (750 standard), maker's mark JG crowned incuse flanked by crowned fleurs de lis, possibly by Souchay and Fernau, active in Hanau, Germany.
