18th Century Exceptional French 18k two colour gold & fixe-sous verre snuff box, of oval shape, the six panels inset with beautifully hand painted glass panels painted in reverse, depicting various French landscapes. Inside the lid bearing a inscription 'Bequeathed to Major General Sir Howard Douglas by his late Royal Highness William Frederick, Duke of Gloucester'.
Hallmarked with French gold marks, Makers mark for Jean Dècle, charge and discharge mark of Jean-Baptiste Fouache, Paris 1774-1775.
