Antique early 20th Century American Art Deco bronze book ends, realistically cast as two elephants pushing against a gate. The book ends are signed "Chas. R. Knight". Charles Robert Knight (1874-1953) is the creator, an American painter and illustrator, who ended up becoming a very well known sculptor. He studied at the Art Students League in New York. He is perhaps the best known in New York for his murals of prehistoric animals and men at the American Museum of Natural History where he worked under Carl Akeley.
