ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Modelled in the style of the J Class, this yacht would have competed as part of the vibrant club scene in Britain, racing against similar yachts under strict regulations ensuring equal waterline length and sail area. These competitions mirrored real sailing regattas and required both precision and an understanding of sailing dynamics.
Particularly notable is the use of Braine gear self steering, an innovative system developed by George Braine. This ingenious mechanism uses a series of counter pulleys to allow the yacht to steer itself, transforming model yachting from a simple amusement into a sport that demanded accuracy, strategy, and deep engagement. Its invention was a key advancement in the early part of the century, ushering in a new era for the hobby.
Today, this beautifully constructed yacht is not only a piece of nautical history but also a striking decorative object. Standing at an impressive 178 centimetres in height, it brings a sense of character and maritime charm to any interior. Whether displayed in a study, library, coastal home, or contemporary living space, it offers a unique blend of sculptural form, craftsmanship, and vintage elegance.
