Very rare 20th Century Swiss-made Patek Philippe “Golden Ellipse” / “Ellipse d’Or” solar-powered electric mantel desk clock, Ref. 1505 (31477), dating from the 1980s and offered in fully working order with its original box. Produced in limited quantities, this elegant timepiece features a gilt brass rectangular case with curved tambour ends, combining brushed and polished finishes.
A polished oval bezel frames the royal blue oval dial, which is set with applied faceted gilt brass baton hour markers and matching baton hands. A solar panel is discreetly integrated into the top of the case, powering a 92 mm circuit board with transistors connected to a photo-electric cell, supported by a battery back-up and fitted with buttons for stop, test, and frequency functions.
The hinged back door provides easy access to the movement. The dial is signed 'PATEK PHILIPPE GENEVE'.
