19th Century Chinese Export Silver Goblet, of typical bell form resting on a circular foot, the body and the foot are profusely and beautifully decorated in relief with figures in a landscape, dragons and birds amongst bamboo branches, the front bears a vacant shield. Hallmarked Chinese Export silver (900+ silver standard), Maker's mark S.S for Sun Shing.

DESCRIPTION

Antique 19th Century Chinese Export Solid Silver Goblet, of typical bell form resting on a circular foot, the body and the foot are profusely and beautifully decorated in relief with figures in a landscape, dragons and birds amongst bamboo branches, the front bears a vacant shield. The inside is richly gilt, the applied and chased decoration is exceptionally crisp and detailed.

The base is Hallmarked Chinese Export silver (acid tested shows a 900+ silver standard), Maker's mark S.S for Sun Shing, active in Canton and Hong Kong from 1790 until 1915 circa, considered one of the most important retailers of silver and luxury goods during the Chinese Export silver period (please see A. Von Ferscht, Chinese Export Silver 1785-1940, 4th edition 2015). This particular goblet, featuring a highly-decorative Chinese style, dates to 1870-80.

In Great Condition - No damage, just general wear.
