19th Century Chinese silver large box, of rectangular form, decorated in repousse' high relief, on very finely tooled matted ground, depicting fighting figures in a landscape, warriors, dignitaries amongst palaces, military battles along the sides and a floral boarder.
Hallmarked Chinese silversmith marks, Maker's mark for Tan Yue He.

DESCRIPTION
Antique 19th Century rare Chinese solid silver large box, of rectangular form, decorated in repousse' high relief, on very finely tooled matted ground, depicting fighting figures in a landscape, warriors, dignitaries amongst palaces, military battles along the sides and a floral boarder. The box is particularly large, heavy and very well crafted, made by one of the most sought after and outstanding silversmiths of the time.
The base is hallmarked Chinese silversmith marks (acid tested shows 900+ standard), Maker's mark for Tan Yue He, one of the most important silversmith active in Bangkok 1850-1910. Tan Yue He is renowned for his fine craftsmanship and was particularly renowned for producing silver pieces for the wealthiest and most prominent Thai and Chinese families, for more information please see A.Von Ferscht, Chinese Export Silver 1785-1940, 5th edition 2015.
