DESCRIPTION

Antique 19th Century rare Chinese Export solid silver vase, impressive and exceptionally fine, baluster form body fully chased and embossed with a dense scene of battles and receptions before nobility, the plain neck engraved with a floral band, standing on a plain detachable, screwed on base.

The decoration is extremely crisp and detailed, the vase shows the best decorative techniques used in Chinese Export Silver, such as stylized foliage and the most sought after by collectors of export silver 'village and battle scenes', the center with a round vacant cartoosh.

The silver is not hallmarked (tested 900+ standard), Judging by the style and quality the vase is undeniably made by the Wang Hing Company, the most important and renown Chinese Export luxury retailer and silver manufacturer active in Hong Kong, Canton and Shanghai. An almost identical example marked Wang Hing, decorated with repousse prunus motifs against 'cracked ice effect' can be found in the book by A. Von Ferscht, Chinese Export Silver 1785-1940, 4th edition 2015.
