ANTIQUE 20thC INDIAN BURMESE SOLID SILVER LARGE REPOUSSE VASE c.1910

£2,995.00
Sold

20th Century Indian or Burmese Colonial Silver vase, extremely large and higly-decorative, inverted baluster body chased and repoussed with a detailed "bamboo" pattern with animals. The "bamboo pattern" is generally considered typical of the Indian city of Lucknow, but this seems to be particularly fine, and the shape and style closely reminds the crop containers still used in Myanmar (Burmese region), particularly in the Bagan area.

Acid tested, shows a 900+ silver standard. The base is engraved with an elephant, typically a workshop mark used both in Burmese silver and Lucknow silver, it probably dates to the 1910's.
