















































ANTIQUE 19thC VICTORIAN SOLID SILVER & GLASS 'WHISKY BARREL' ICE BUCKET c.1864
Antique 19th Century Victorian solid silver and frosted glass ice bucket, modelled in the form of a whisky barrel. This imaginative piece captures the inventive spirit of the Victorian era, combining function with playful design. The frosted glass body is finely engraved to resemble wooden staves and is mounted with solid silver hoops to mimic the appearance of a traditional whisky barrel.
A blank silver cartouche is present on one side of the barrel. The lid, also in solid silver, is surmounted by a whimsical figure of a monkey wearing a sunhat and holding a flagon, seated atop a wrapped travel trunk. Ideal as an ice or biscuit barrel, this is a charming and unusual example of Victorian silverware.
