19th Century exceptional Victorian silver-gilt & glass wine ewer, extremely large and decorative, the inverted baluster frosted matt glass body applied with stylised fruiting vines, realistically modelled branch handle and vine embellished cover. Hallmarked English Silver (925), London, year 1843 (h), Maker's mark IM&JSH for John Mortimer & John Samuel Hunt.

Antique 19th Century exceptional Victorian solid silver-gilt & glass wine ewer, extremely large and decorative, the inverted baluster frosted matt glass body applied with stylised fruiting vines, realistically modelled branch handle and vine embellished cover. Hallmarked English Silver (925 Standard), London, year 1843 (h), Maker's mark IM&JSH (John Mortimer & John Samuel Hunt). 

Hunt and Roskell (John Hunt and Robert Roskell), silversmiths and jewellers to Queen Victoria and other European Royal families. The company was founded by Paul Storr in 1819, later Storr & Mortimer (1822-38), Mortimer & Hunt (John Samuel Hunt, 1838-43) and finally Hunt & Roskell (1843-97)
