DESCRIPTION

Antique 19th Century rare William IV Solid Silver trophy cup, the circular foot mounted with three cast dolphins supporting the body, which is profusely chased with shells and a boat-race, applied cast handles imitating ropes and the applied rim imitating sea foam.

The front featuring a cartouche with the later inscription "Luska Bay Challenge Cup, Presented by Captain Wallerand & Edmund W. Waller Esq. 29th July 1878".

This is one of the most exceptional nautical-related silver trophies, extremely crisp, detailed and decorative.

Each part is Hallmarked English silver (925 Standard), London, year 1826 (l), Maker's mark JET (John Edward Terrey, important silversmith specializing in highly decorative silver pieces).
