19th Century Georgian silver figural centrepiece, the stem depicting a classical figure holding a basket with grapevine above, resting on an openwork triangular base embellished with acanthus leaves and floral festoons, the openwork top is fitted with a cut-glass bowl. Hallmarked sterling silver (925 standard), London, year 1829 (o), Maker's mark "SJ" for Samuel Jackson.

DESCRIPTION

Antique 19th Century rare Georgian Solid Silver figural centrepiece, the stem depicting a classical figure holding a basket with grapevine above, resting on an openwork triangular base embellished with acanthus leaves and floral festoons, the openwork top is fitted with a cut-glass bowl.


The base bearing a memorial inscription "Viscount Boyne to W. G. Wooler A.D. 1872". "Viscount Boyne" probably refers to Gustavus Frederick Hamilton-Russell, 7th Viscount Boyne (1798-1872), or Gustavus Russell Hamilton-Russell, 8th Viscount Boyne (1830-1907).

Each part is Hallmarked English silver (925 standard), London, year 1829 (o), Maker's mark "SJ" (Samuel Jackson).
