19th century Georgian silver covered bowl, dish and spoon, large size and highly-decorative pattern, of circular form, the cover with a finial depicting a seated man, the bowl with applied scroll and flower rim, chased and embossed with floral, shell and scroll decoration, cast spade spoon with snake-entwined stem leading to a mask finial. Hallmarked English Silver (925), London, year 1817 (b), Maker's mark "SW" probably for Samuel Whitford.

DESCRIPTION

Antique early-19th century Georgian solid silver covered bowl, dish and spoon, large size and highly-decorative pattern, of circular form, the cover with a finial depicting a seated man, the bowl with applied scroll and flower rim, chased and embossed with floral, shell and scroll decoration, cast spade spoon with snake-entwined stem leading to a mask finial.


The plate is engraved with a crowned M, possibly for Princess Mary, Duchess of Gloucester (1776-1857) fourth daughter of King George III. The coat of arms on the bowl bearing English royal heraldic triple fleur-de-lys. The spoon is engraved with a crest, possibly unrelated.

Each part is Hallmarked English Silver (925 Sterling), London, year 1817 (b), Maker's mark "SW" probably for Samuel Whitford.

In Great Condition - No damage, just general wear.
