DESCRIPTION

Antique 19th Century Georgian exceptionally rare solid silver pair of tea caddies and a sugar box with covers, architectural form with flame finials to the sides, the covers with teapot finials, the sides chased with incidents from the New Testament (Jesus walking on water and the Good Samaritan) above agricultural scenes, among scrolling foliage, the caddies with sliding covers. The shagreen fitted casket on scrolling bracket feet, lock-plate and claw and ball feet. Hallmarked English silver (925 standard), London, year 1827 (m), Maker's mark RPGB (Richard Pearce & George Borrows, active 1826-1851).
