18th Century rare Georgian silver impressive tankard, of typical tapering form, later riconverted in a lipped flagon, domed cover, large scroll handle, the body profusely chased and embossed with a stunning battle scene, the hinged lid also embossed with a knight killing a dragon, probably St George.
Hallmarked English Silver (925), London, year 1721 (F), Maker's mark PA for Thomas Parr I.

DESCRIPTION
Antique 18th Century rare Georgian Solid Silver impressive tankard, of typical tapering form, later riconverted in a lipped flagon, domed cover, large scroll handle, the body profusely chased and embossed with a stunning battle scene, the hinged lid also embossed with a knight killing a dragon, probably St George.
The body is exceptionally well chased and detailed, the body and the lid are Hallmarked English Silver (925 standard), London, year 1721 (F), Maker's mark PA (Thomas Parr I), same maker's mark to the handle. The skirted foot and the spout are also Hallmarked English silver (925 standard), city and maker's mark not found but surely London, George IV head, year 1822 (g).
It was fashionable during the Victorian period to reconvert early silver tankards in flagons, adding a highly-decorative embossed scene. This particular piece is unusual and rare as the chasing and the decorative spout are particularly early, dating to the late Georgian period.
CONDITION
In Great condition - No damage, just general wear.
