Zenith

(Active since 1865)

Zenith SA is a Swiss luxury watch manufacturer, founded and based in Le Locle, Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Founded in 1865, the prominent watchmaker remains one of the few Swiss watch manufacturers that keep producing movements for their timepieces in-house.

Started as a local business, nestled in Le Locle, Zenith has soon expanded into a manufacture with several buildings, and the company gradually grew into a whole watchmaking entreprise. 1969 was the year, when Zenith forever changed the history of horology with their invention, the world’s first chronograph with an automatic high-frequency caliber. The mechanism was fundamentally new. What is more, the model, that was named El Primero, was not only supplied with a leading-edge caliber, but also had a unique innovative design that the world had not seen before. The movement, which became a real breakthrough, was later used by Rolex SA for their chronographs. Now the prosperous watchmaker’s timepieces are represented by four main collections: Defy, Chronomaster, Elite and Pilot. Besides, the manufacturer takes care of their early pieces and provides a special service that helps restore authentic vintage watches by Zenith. The Maison is one of the few left that offers such a service. All the pieces restored are supplied with Zenith certificate of convenience, where the timepiece’s provenance and history are documented.

Innovator and traditionalist at the same time, Zenith SA has always been truly prolific. In the golden age of chronometry competitions, which lasted from 1903 until the end of the 1960s, the manufacturer won 2333 awards and received over 300 patents.

In 1999, Zenith SA became a part of LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton) watch and jewellery division, joining such iconic brands, as TAG Heuer, Louis Vuitton, Hublot and Tiffany & Co. Along with other LVMH representatives Zenith SA does its best to reduce its environmental impact and tries to meet the targets of the corporation’s sustainability policy. Such eco-oriented approach to the environment not only has a positive impact on the planet, but also helps the brand attract new customers, as more and more people are now choosing sustainable development.
