DESCRIPTION

Antique early-20th Century German pair of solid silver & royal blue glass wine coolers. Of campana form, the sides applied with frieze of classical biblical scenes, beside Grecian columns and laurel garlands, to each side applied with twisted snake handles springing from a realistically modelled females face. Top and lower decorated with acanthus leaves, fluted and beaded boarders. The removable blue glass liners are later made, but are a perfect fit and compliments the coolers beautifully. Hallmarked German silver (800 standard), Hanau, Kissingen, Maker Simon Rosenau (Supplier of antiques to the Royal Bavarian court, active 1862-1932)
