Antique 19th Century rare Chinese Export solid silver pair of monumental vases, impressive and exceptionally fine, decorated with repoussé depicting 'Guo Ziyi's birthday' on a matted ground, the sides mounted with a pair of foo dog masks, top engraved with a floral boarder and terminating with a flared neck and standing on a spreading base and carved wood stands. Two inscriptions on the panels held by the boys read ‘聖旨’ and ‘全家福’, which translate to: 'Happy family blessing from the imperial edict'. Hallmarked with Chinese marks on the base for "慶雲 (Qingyun)", active in Tianjin between 1783 - (end date as yet undetermined, thought to be circa 1890-1900)
