ANTIQUE 19thC GERMAN HANAU SOLID SILVER EMBOSSED BACCHANALIA TANKARD c.1880
19th Century German Hanau Silver lidded tankard, in the style of the early 16th Century pieces, parcel gilt, beautifully chased and embossed with Bacchanalia scene with a drunk Bacchus carried by satyrs, cherubs and nymphs. Wavy rims, scroll handle, the hinged lid is embossed with fruits and lid terminates with a stunning fruit finial. Hallmarked with German Hanau marks (900+ grade silver), Maker's marks for an unidentified Hanau silversmith. It dates to year 1880's.

Antique 19th Century German Hanau Solid Silver impressively large lidded tankard, in the style of the early 16th Century pieces, parcel gilt, beautifully chased and embossed with Bacchanalia scene with a drunk Bacchus carried by satyrs, cherubs and nymphs. Wavy rims, scroll handle, the hinged lid is embossed with fruits and lid terminates with a stunning fruit finial.
Hallmarked with German Hanau marks (tested 900+ grade silver), Maker's marks for an unidentified Hanau silversmith. It dates to year 1880's. The piece also bears Austro-Hungarian import marks (year 1901-21).
