19th Century pair of Victorian Silver magnificent and exceptional comports / tazzas, each raised on a cast fluted knop stem embellished with alternate panels of shell and mask motifs, domed circular foot with chased stylized foliate and floral decoration, the shaped-circular dish beautifully engraved and applied with an embellished border, centered by an hand-engraved coat-of-arms. Hallmarked English silver (925), London, year 1857 (b), Maker's mark crowned RG for Robert Garrard II.

Antique 19th Century pair of Victorian Solid Silver magnificent and exceptional comports / tazzas, each raised on a cast fluted knop stem embellished with alternate panels of shell and mask motifs, domed circular foot with chased stylized foliate and floral decoration, the shaped-circular dish beautifully engraved and applied with an embellished border, centered by an hand-engraved coat-of-arms.

This is a particularly decorative and impressive pair, made by one of the greatest Royal silversmiths of all time, extremely heavy gauge and crisp decoration.

Each part is Hallmarked English silver (925 Standard), London, year 1857 (b), Maker's mark crowned RG (Robert Garrard II), important Royal silversmith (Queen Victoria appointed Robert Garrard to the position of Crown Jeweller in 1843, leading to the production of numerous pieces of silverware for the Royal Family, please follow this link). Each piece is also stamped with the Retailer's mark "Garrards, Panton Street, London" and numbered.
