19th Century Victorian silver-gilt monumental statue of a centaur holding a malachite ball in his raised hand, standing and resting on a malachite base, the statue is richly gilded in 22k gold, the horse body is covered with a Warwick vase inspired lion pelt, the nude torso and face are very finely modelled and look very realistic, the horse half body is in a semi moving stance, the detail is of the highest quality, to the last hair. Hallmarked English silver (925), London, year 1873 (s), Maker's mark crowned "RG" for R & S Garrard & Co..

Hallmarked English silver (925 standard), London, year 1873 (s), Maker's mark crowned "RG" for R & S Garrard & Co, very important silversmith, jeweller and supplier to British and European royalty). The base is further stamped "R & G GARRARD PANTON ST LONDON".
