19th Century Victorian Silver extremely large sugar bowl, richly parcel gilt, extremely rare design, the body profusely embossed and applied with tavern scenes in the style of the Dutch painter David Teniers, twin handles cast as a drunken peasant perched on a tree branch. A very decorative and heavy piece, beautifully cast and modelled, this particular piece appears to be particularly crisp, the base is engraved with a family crest. Hallmarked English Silver (925), London, year 1843 (h), Maker's mark EF for Edward Farrell.

Antique 19th Century early-Victorian Solid Silver extremely large sugar bowl, richly parcel gilt, extremely rare design, the body profusely embossed and applied with tavern scenes in the style of the Dutch painter David Teniers, twin handles cast as a drunken peasant perched on a tree branch. A very decorative and heavy piece, beautifully cast and modelled, this particular piece appears to be particularly crisp, the base is engraved with a family crest. A teapot by the same silversmith in the same style is in the Victoria & Albert Museum (please follow this link).

All parts Hallmarked English Silver (925 Standard), London, year 1843 (h), Maker's mark EF (Edward Farrell, one of the greatest English silversmiths of all time).
