Antique 18th Century rare Georgian Solid Silver pair of cast candlesticks, of typical form in use during the Queen Anne and George I period, very heavy gauge, raised on a square base with cut corners (please follow this link to an almost identical candlestick by the same maker, figure 7). Each base bearing a small coat of arms. Both candlesticks are Hallmarked English Silver (925 standard), London, year 1727 (M), Maker's mark IS (John Le Sage, one of the greatest silversmiths of the 18th Century, please follow this link to the Metropolitan Museum of New York Collection and this link to the Victoria & Albert Museum of London's).
