18th Century Georgian Silver embossed lidded Tankard, of baluster form, the body is beautifully chased with rhombuses centered by flowers in relief, the frontal one vacant, the lower body with a similar decoration. The domed cover in the same style applied with a scroll thumb-piece.  Hallmarked English Silver (925), London, year 1763 (h), Maker's mark WC over-struck by another mark "I.S" on both base and cover for John Schofield.

Antique 18th Century Georgian Solid Silver embossed lidded Tankard, of baluster form, the body is beautifully chased with rhombuses centered by flowers in relief, the frontal one vacant, the lower body with a similar decoration. The domed cover in the same style applied with a scroll thumb-piece. All parts Hallmarked English Silver (925 standard), London, year 1763 (h), Maker's mark WC over-struck by another mark "I.S" on both base and cover (John Schofield, very renowned Georgian silversmith). Marks were often overstruck by more well known silversmiths, when they couldn't complete an order they would often buy the pieces from lesser known silversmiths and hallmark over the hallmark.
