The vase is applied with a magnificent cast silver mounts, the rim with a gadrooned decoration and the openwork feet depicting flowers and leaves in relief on a scrolling base. The silver is Hallmarked French silver (boar's head, 800+ silver standard), Maker's mark in a lozange (very small and difficult to read), by style the vase is typically from the French city of Limoges, renowned for its enamelled pieces.
