Rare and precious 20th Century Mario Buccellati Solid Silver box, rectangular form with hinged top featuring an etching of the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome, from an engraving of the famous 18th Century painter Giovanni Battista Piranesi (please follow this link). The engraving has a glass plate cover, and is marked "Roma - Basilica di S. M. Maggiore - da una stampa". The box features a stunning workmanship, is Solid Silver (925 standard) and is marked "M. Buccellati", for Mario Buccellati, one of the greatest jewellers and silversmiths, founder of the important company.
