Antique 19th Century Imperial Russian solid silver-gilt trompe l'oeil throne salt, richly gilt and beautifully engraved, pierced geometric back, the seat engraved to simulate wood grain, the interior of the lid engraved with dedication inscription in Russian 'From the employees of the Association of Tver Manufactory in Moscow, 2 January 1872' Such Novelty salts shaped as thrones are particularly rare and sough after. Each part is Hallmarked Russian silver 84 (875 standard), Moscow, Assayer's mark dated 1871, Maker's mark in Cyrillic D.I.O (Unknown)
